According to the article, Athens, the capital of Greece is still under the shadow of the economic crisis. There is a depressed economy, social unrest and a lot of difficulties in people's lives. Aegean seems to have lost its original blue colour. Our presentation will show some of the current situation of the Greek economy and the factors of causing the crisis.

Self-introduction(Akio)

Hello, everyone!

My name is Akio Hara. I'm 37 years old and Japanese.

I'm married. My wife is living in Japan and working now, but she is going to come to NZ next year if I get a job here. My parents live in Chiba in Japan. Chiba is not so far from Tokyo but very rural area. I have an older brother. He lives in Chiba with my parents. I'm on very good terms with him.

I graduated from the university in Japan. After that, I worked at cram school in Tokyo. Cram school is where students come and study after school. Though I heard cram school doesn't exist in NZ, it is very popular and common in my country. I was a teacher there and taught Japanese, Math, and English to primary school and junior high school kids. Although I had a great experience there, I quit it and came to NZ.

I have two reasons why I quit the job and came here. Firstly, it was very stressful to work in Tokyo, where people aren't kind and everywhere is crowded. Secondly, I studied English in the university and have been interested in living in a foreign country for a long time. The reason I chose NZ is that I love nature. After finishing the EAP2, I'm going to study Tourism at Graduate Diploma of Tourism Management. I wanted to focus on studying English at first in EAP2 because my English is not so good. After graduating from AIS, I hope to work in Auckland and live with my wife, so I must study so hard.

When I have free time, I like to go somewhere exciting. I went to Tutukaka Coast last weekend and swam in the beautiful sea. My host family took me there. I want to go there again some day. On Sundays, I usually go to church. I am a Christian.

See you later in the class!
Thank you for reading!

Self Introduction (Taka)

Hello, everyone.

My name is Mitsutaka Waga. I come from Japan. I have been New Zealand for nine months with my wife and daughter. It is first time to live in an overseas country. My daughter is five years old. She is very talkative and has a lot curiosity. She very often asks my wife and me "What is that? How do you do that? Why?". We try to answer her questions  as often as possible, however, her curiosity is unlimited. For this reason, unfortunately, we often give it up .

Then, I would like to talk about my work history. I worked as software developer for about thirteen years in Japan. Originally, I wanted to become a game programmer. However, game companies require extensive and deep technical knowledge such as programming language, Physics and Maths. So, I gave up  one of my dreams and was employed by a company which is not game production.

I want to immigrate to New Zealand. Work experience at New Zealand's local company is necessary to get the permanent residential visa. However, my English is not enough to get jobs in New Zealand, and I want to improve that. It is a reason to do EAP2 course. After finish the EAP2 course, I will enter a Graduate Diploma Information Technology.

I like to play the guitar very much. When I play it, I feel relaxed and fun. I started to play it ten years ago. I had the only one acoustic guitar in my life, but I didn't bring that to here because an overseas  delivery charge is not cheap. In the future, I will get a job and will buy new one.

Thank you all to read my introduction.

Mitsutaka Waga

Self introduction(Tom)

My name is Wang Tao, and my English name is Tom, from China. I am delighted to be joining EAP2 class where I have met many classmate from different countries and become friends. I hope we work together to improve our English, and can successfully complete EAP2 course.

Before landing in New Zealand, I'm living in my hometown, Shanghai for 37 years where I finished my studies of primary school, middle school and high school. In 1995, I entered the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and majored in Computer Application. Two years after, I graduated and found my first job. In this work, I practiced many applications of computer hardware, software and network, so I realized that my knowledge was still limiting. Therefore, I decided to return to the campus to complete a BS in Computer Information Management at Fu Dan University. Since 1999, I have been working for 15 years in the communications and computer fields. During this period, I accomplished a lot of large projects, such as call centre and emergency systems, as a project manager. Now, I'm PMP by PMI certified, and engineers by AVAYA, Microsoft and Cisco certified. Furthermore, I am the manager of the project management department.

I've been in New Zealand for five months. I miss my family: my mother, my wife and son. They still live in Shanghai. My mother had retired. She is a kind woman. Under her education and influence, I learned a lot of truth in life. My wife is very beautiful. We have a lot in common. Her work is very busy, but at the same time she has to take care of our family. My son is 11 years old this year. He goes to primary school. He is a very intelligent and handsome boy. He likes to read books and play video games. They also miss me, we often make video calls to chat about each other's life, or share some interesting things lately.
I came to New Zealand because I like its lifestyle. I like to travel, outdoors and sports I enjoy the lifestyle here. However, I have to finish my studies: three months of EAP2 course; a year of GDIT courses course. I think this is a difficult journey. Fortunately, there are such good friends and good teachers to accompany me. Each of you are enthusiastic, and gave me a lot of help.

Finally, I hope we can be friends forever.

self-introduction-Jessie

Helloeveryone

My name is Zhang Leisi, but you guys can call me Jessie. I am very glad to join in EAP2 class. It is my pleasure to study with you guys.

First at all, I would like to introduce my family. I come from China, and my hometown is Liaoning province. But my parents now live in Sichuan province, which is in the Southwest of China. I am the only child in my family, so that my parents encourage me to improve my communicate skill to make more friends. That might be the reason now I am an outgoing girl. They always support my idea and give me a chance to try by myself, I can do almost everything which I was interested in. I am very happy to listen to their advice. I love my family.

I am graduate from Tianjin Engineering Technical Institute in China, and have already completed a degree in Engineering Budget. As we know, there is a significant increase of population in China, so that the requirement of housing even more fierce. That is the reason why I hope to continue tertiary education for the future development, so that I came to New Zealand.

It is my first time to go abroad for studying, and I found it is difficult for me to get 6.0 in the IELTS test, so that I chose to study EAP2 course to make it easy to get in my major course. And also I heard that I need to do the presentation and write essay in the major course,I have never try those before, this is also the reason why I think I must study in EAP2 class, it will be helpful in my future. I hope I can pass the final exam to enter my major course and also the most important thing for me is I can write an essay easily and I can be relaxed instead of being nerves during presentation time.

I used to be an artistic student for a long time, I am interested in music since I was a child. I studied electronic organ when I was 5 years old, 2 years later I studied to play the piano for 1 year. Finally I gave up all those things and chose to learn play Guzheng, a kind of traditional Chinese 21 stringed plucked instrument and got the highest level in the professional test during the following 5 years. Now I still love music, and interested in all types of musical instrument. And also I would like to play computer games during weekends, my favorite game is World of Warcraft. I would like to share my personal interest with you guys, and I hope we can become friends during the course.

Thanks for reading my introduction, best wishes for everyone.

Self introduction-Leanne2202

Dear all,

I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself who is a forthright lady from Bei Jing of China .

You can call me ‘Leanne’ or ‘Li Yan’. They have a similar pronunciation. The origin of the name ‘Leanne’ is: one couple, Leo and Anne, have a daughter. They really love their child; consequently, they give him a name Leo + Anne, Leanne. However, it is not my story of the name. My English name is just from pronunciation of my Chinese name.

Firstly, let me introduce my family that is the most important part in my life. My lovely daughter grows up with me, and my husband pays more attentions and time for us. We always travel abroad together because I fancy traveling. In my hometown, swimming pool and children’s playground are places we often to go due to favorites of my daughter.

Secondly, I have a long work experience of my job. I worked in a Singapore’s company as Human Resource Director, and managed 3 department that are HR, Admin and IT department. This is my last job in China. There are many interesting business in my company. We help our customers to organize their conferences, provide creative slogans and proposals, and others business. This is a dynamic team.

However, now, I come to New Zealand for my studies. In the days of my past, I never had been in the Pacific. New Zealand scenery and creative culture attracts me deeply. Meanwhile, considering my work experience, vocational development and my fancy, I choose to study tourism management in New Zealand. Nevertheless, I need to pass EAPII at first. At the same time, EAPII can bring me a lot of useful knowledge; for example, how does I success in presentation, search helpful references, and achieve subjects.

Finally, I love diving, travelling, and playing violin and piano. If you have same hobbies or interests with me, welcome you to take those with me.

Best Regards,

Leanne

Self introduction Irene

Hello Everyone…
My name is Irene Nuraena Ratna Andrini. You can call me Irene...
I am very grateful to meet you all in this class, EAP 2. This class was very exciting and fun. Hopefully we all can finish this class well and achieve our goals further.

Now, I would like to introduce myself to you…

I am from Jakarta, Indonesia. I am a mother of 2 children. Those kids are very sweet. They are my passion to continue to learn. Currently, both of my children are still living in Jakarta with my mother. I really miss them, and want to be able to be together again.

Since childhood, I have always been required to study hard. My father put me into a very good senior high school in Jakarta; Santa Ursula Catholic Girl School.  And that's why I managed to be accepted in one of the Best University in Indonesia; University of Indonesia. Thank you to my Dad ;)

I went into a major that I liked: Communication. And after graduated from collage, I was accepted at one of the best Multinational Advertising in Jakarta; LOWE World Wide, as an Eccount Executive. I am very grateful and excited. After several years of working in LOWE, another multinational advertising agency, Mccann Erickson Advertising Indonesia offered me a better position, as an Account Manager. And I accepted it with a great pleasure.

The longer I studied advertising, the more I realized that this is a job that I love.  I learned so many aspects, such as: how to implement creativity, branding, visual communication and communication strategy in to a work that could affect the audience. Therefore now, after I resigned from Mccann Erickson, I built a small advertising agency with some friends.  This agency is still very young. There are still many obstacles and mistakes. But we must have the courage to start… Therefore I really want to be able to pass this EAP2.  And continue to learn to pursue Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.

As we all know, advertising is closely related to creativity and art. Unfortunately my hobby is also not far from those two things. I like painting, and really love to create everything related to Crafting and Art. Therefore to express my hobby, in Jakarta I gather some friends and make communities 'Kids Art Day'. I do hope with 'Kids Art Day', I can inspire children not only to be able to play games, but can have a hobby through simple things that make them be able to express their creativity, and get together with friends as well as interact more with each other.

Finally, thank you for your time... to read a little story about me...
Hope we all together can pass this class well and at the end we can make our dream come true...

Regards
Irene

Self introduction (Angela)

Hello everyone,

My name is Angela, I am very pleasure to study with you all in a same class, and I wish we all could get good marks for the future study.

I would like to introduce myself to you.
I have a lovely daughter who is only 11 months in China. Now she is learning to talk during this stage, there is lots of interesting news from her every day, I miss her very much and I really hope I can reunite with her soon.

I graduated from the University of South Australia and got the Master Degree of Professional Accounting in 08/2011, and I obtained the Bachelor Degree in International Trade and Economics from China in 07/2018. Besides, I have 3 years working experiences related to the accounting filed.

My first job was in a large accounting firm. I was sent to provide services in the Financial Department of China Petrochemical Corporation. My main job was book keeping, invoice issuing and management, maintaining the bank record and performing the bank reconciliation.

My second job was in a foreign investment enterprise named Greatview Aspetic Packaging Company. It is listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, which is the second largest supplier of roll-fed aseptic packaging material globally. I was working in the Financial Department. In here my main job was responsible for preparing the payment to suppliers though the different international trade settlement mode, and preparing the relevant report daily and monthly. Assisting in the annual audit and the internal audit were also my duties.

My last job was in the Financial Department of Lenovo Headquarters. I was responsible for supporting the monthly closing for the Europe Accounting Department. I did not work here for so long time as I got the student visa from the New Zealand Immigration. Although working in the Lenovo is a precious opportunities, I think earn more qualification and improve the personal competence when I am still young was much more important than my current salary, hence, I resigned my job. I believe my current learning could be beneficial to my future career and promotion.

I am attending the EAP2 class for two reasons.
Firstly, I hope to improve my English greatly from here, especially for expansion of my business vocabularies and the improvement of English listening and speaking. After I studied here for one week, I believe that the EAP2 class could help me to achieve my purpose and it is really quite useful.

Secondly, study EAP2 could be a bridge to the Postgraduate Diploma Program. It is undoubted that there are numbers of writing and critical thinking in the University. Students attending the EAP2 class could learn some essential ability for the future study. I am sure that I decide to study EAP2 class is a wise choice, and I will be easily to adapt to the university study after I finished the EAP2 here.

Finally, I would like to introduce my interest and hobbies to you. I have started to study playing piano when I was a little child. Therefore I am really good at playing the music.  I also obtained lots of certificate of honor before. I will be very happy that I can play the music for you if we have the chance.

Thank you for your time and wish we all best for the further study.
Regards

Angela

When I finished high school,I went to Shanghai Civil Avation College. This is a good college in Shanghai because we could learn some skills about our works. Finally I got a nice score to finish my study and I went to Hongqiao International Airport. My job was security check. This wasn't a easy job because a lot of bad guys wanted to do some crazy things. My responsibility was check passenger's passport and luggage's.This was boring and tired.Someone often made you feel very angry. So one day I decided to have a trip to NZ.In Queens-town,I was fascinated by the scenery here. Then my father made a decision. He sent me to NZ for study.
Since I cam to New Zealand,I found I need a nice listening and speaking. So I joined EAP2 class to practice my English skills.I hope I can speak with others fluently. My course is Graduate Diploma of Tourism. This course need nice listening and speaking. So I believe I can learn a lot from EAP2 class.

Self Introduction (Eva)

Hello, everybody. My name is Eva Shao. I have just been in New Zealand for 10 days. I have never gone abroad before, so I am a little bit thinking of my family. I have no brothers or sisters because of the one-child policy in China. There are only my father, my mother and I in my family which is simple but warm.

After senior school, I entered university to study Accounting. I focused on my courses but did not enjoy my university life, which made me feel regretful after graduated. I became a bank clerk after getting bachelor’s degree. The work in bank was extremely busy and I used to feel tired so much. One day I decided to quit my job and visit some places to have a rest. My friend suggested me to study abroad which can let me both change the environment and have further study. Then I followed her advice and came here.

I found it was difficult for me to communicate with natives fluently. I could not catch others’ words, understand others quickly or express myself easily. So I joined the EAP2 class. I hope that I could chat with natives more fluently without misunderstanding. I also want to read English articles more quickly. I believe I will do that after the class over.

I enjoy playing Rubik's Cube although someone thinks it is difficult and boring. I like to mix the colors up then return them back. I think it is a good way to kill time as well as exercise my brain. I have been trying my best to increase the speed of returning back. But I cannot break my record of 21 seconds. What a pity I left my magic cube at home. Maybe one day I will buy a new one to practice in Auckland.

Self Introduction (Miyuki)

Hello everyone,
My name is Miyuki, and many of you certainly remember me because we used to study together in EAP1. So, I will introduce my family. My immediate family is relatively small, just my mother, brother and I. My mother lives by herself in my hometown. I always worry about her because she will be 83 years old this November. My brother has his own family, so I have 2 nieces who are extremely cute. One of them passed high school entry exam, although she has a slight birth defect which is both physical and psychological. I feel uneasy about the other one. She is just 12 years old but has to consider her family’s financial situation because of her sister. I heard that she wants to study abroad and come to New Zealand. If she comes here, I will teach her to enjoy life.
I attended various schools which were primary, junior high school, high school, Academies, and a university. I was not a good student until I graduated from high school. So, I often played truant at school, and my mother was called out by teachers. I changed my mind after that and attended 2 Academies. I learned numerous medical subjects and worked at clinical site, so I was an embryologist. Then, I felt that I needed to acquire engineering knowledge because medical staff had to manipulate complicated equipments, but my Physics score was almost 0 at my high school. It was so hard to study for university entrance examination. Eventually, I passed that and entered university. Final year, I could study at the top of universities in my country. I noticed that I liked studying at that time.
Now, I am in EAP2 class at AIS because I escaped bitter situation in my country. This is why, I have to succeed in New Zealand. I will do Graduate Diploma in Information Technology. Furthermore, I want to get a job and immigrate to this country finally. Of course, I am going to invite my mother and niece here. I have to work hard to that end. I apologise to you for my behaviour in advance because I tend to dominate our class. It is vital for me that I must complete EAP2 and improve my English skills.
I love scuba diving. I went to Vanuatu during my last holiday and took a great number of photos including underwater pictures. If you want to see, please let me know. In the underwater world, I can forget every dark side of reality. I went diving in Australia, Japan, and Vanuatu, and I used to teach scuba diving. My best site for diving is Izu Peninsula, Japan because of four seasons. If you go diving in the spring, you can see many juvenile fish and eggs. If you go diving in the winter, you can watch adult fish which have different body colour when they were young. The most exciting diving style is drift ice diving. Divers create a small hole on drift ice and dive with a safety rope. It is recorded minus temperature under drift ice on a diving computer. Divers can share exciting experience with each other although they have met first time. After EAP2, I want to go diving with my classmates if we can.
Thank you for reading to the end.
Sincerely,
Miyuki
