Different culture in business between China and Western countries

China has 5,000 years of history, and it is influenced by Confucian culture. Therefore, Chinese businessmen also have their own unique culture. They are valued to “face”, so they are not directly express their approval or dissatisfaction. “Face as a mix of public perception, social role and self-esteem than has the potential to either destroy or help build relationships.” ( Kermeliotis, 2011). This is very different from the western businessmen who are more direct expression of their ideas.

The different business cultures between China and Japan

China's manager pay more attention to the performance of staff. They think a good staff should have a good performance. Just like schools in China, good students are always popular with teachers. But in Japan, the managers are more attention to the ability of employees. They think a good employee who has strong ability is important.

Chinese Management Style

Confucianism has been the main typical of Chinese culture, the core of Confucianism includes stressing the ceremony to teach and standardize human nature. Thus, young people should respect our elders and subordinate should obey his superior. As a result, in China, management style tends to post instruction. The instructions from higher level, so lower level just need to execute order.

different cultures in business

Different countries have different cultures in business. In Indian, the most of people have religious. They do not like meat and alcohol. especially, beef is a huge problem. Because the cow is a god in Indian. In addition, they do not use chopsticks when they eat meal as this is their cultures. Conversely, Chinese people like meat and alcohol when we met important people, because only this way to express our enthusiasm.

Business cultural difference on body language, Germany versus Japan

I found business cultural difference on body language,as following:

Body language is a key factor in cultural difference.According to“The body language of different cultures is a fascinating subject.People watching is not only an enjoyable pastime – what you observe will help you to build up essential knowledge about yourself and others.”(Vanbrabant,2012)  As different countries have different ways to  share their message, for instance in Germany people tend to speak loudly when sharing ideas, while in Japan people speak softly. it very important to know what your body language should be doing when communicating with people.

Japanese business culture in international negotiations

Because different cultures affect how people work and manage, staff may have different ways when they do business. I will talk something about Japanese business culture in international negotiations.
1.    Japanese think it is impolite and disrespect to call the first name at a first meeting.
2.    Japanese use indirect methods in negotiations. Japanese express disapproval may led others to think they would be under consideration. However, they have already rejected others.
3.    Japanese do not like high risk in international negotiations. They tend to be risk averse.

Compare culture of management between China and the UK

There are number of difference of management between China, the West and the Europe because of their culture. According to Chen & Partington (2003) researched the difference of building relationship between Chinese and British.   Chinese project managers prefer to work together with their team members on projects for years, that means they stay at their established team and their team members also enjoy this mode. At the same time, they know each other include their families and hobbits. However, the UK project managers do not appear to concern their team members before, and those most of members are new to them. They prefer to understand the new staffs through new projects. Meanwhile, they realize that respect and trust are the most import for their team and make them being good partners.

Different opinion about customers between French and Japanese

Hello, everyone.
I would like to talk about difference of thinking about customers between French and Japanese.

In case of French, they think that a service person and a customer are stand on an equal position because they believe that a service is a consideration of price(Miller, 2013). However, typical Japanese business person think that customer is the god. Because customer use their service and pay money. Also many Japanese customers think that same as that.

Corporate Culture: Indonesia versus Japan

As an Indonesian who had worked in a local company, my experiences prove that the company hierarchy in Indonesia is very important. So we need to know those people who have the highest position and how to act on them. For example, in the writing emails, those with a higher position, his name is written first. This hierarchy can be also be seen on the way to greet someone. People who are older or higher position must begin with the title ‘Ibu’ for woman, or ‘Bapak’ for man, and then followed by their name. For instance Ibu Irene or Bapak Tom. Meanwhile, in terms of appearance and manner of dress, Indonesia also upholds the decency to dress. And one that may be important to remember is hanging out or 'drink' along with the boss after work is rare in Indonesia, except the boss and subordinate relationship is already very close.
Besides working in an Indonesian company, I also had to have several clients of Japanese companies. Basically, the characteristic of Japanese company is not too different from the Indonesian. Maybe it's because we come from the same clump of Asian culture. As reported by Japantoday, in Japan company, 'harmony is the best thing' and courtesy to superiors is something that is still adhered to in the world of business and corporate ethics. One example of an expression of harmony that is when we complete a project successfully, then we should express this sentence in our leaders, "Thanks to you. Because of you we can complete this project successfully." Despite that most of the projects was carry out by us, but it is important as a form of the highest award for the guidance from our leaders. In the mean time, when we have a difference of opinion, we should not immediately reject that argument. We can use a polite sentence like this, "I actually understand what you mean, but what if ...".  In addition, according to The Economist 2010, one of the things that we need to understand as well is the Japanese workers are usually loyal to one type of company. And the most senior leaders of the company have always come from within the company. Therefore replacing the top of leaders with someone from outside the company, especially when the leaders come from different countries, it is "highly unusual step" (The Economist, Tokyo, 2010).
Finally, in my opinion, how we understand other corporate culture in the connecting with our career is essential.  To be able to run our task easily, we have to have a flexible interpersonal skill. So we know what we have to deal with the company culture where we are working in and with who we are working to.

Different management style between UK and PRC

In China, State-owned enterprises are the main body of nation's economy. Management is highly centralized, As reported by Cultural Influences on Management Style (2011), “The Chinese manager is seen as a type of traditional father figure, and often functions autocratically.” This pattern can concentrate the power of the collective for rapid development, but enthusiasm of the working masses can not be reflected. This led to the supervision system can not be effective in most instances.

The British System of nobility led most enterprise managers do everything possible to join the upper class. Therefore, the values of British entrepreneurs more particular about social status. This is means that in the UK, business proprietors are hidebound, their adventurous spirit is poor.

Different Communication and Management Types

Hello everyone. I want to share with you my findings below.
Mexican people tend to prefer status to money. Younger people are looked down on by their managers and are in a lower position. Mexican managers just command and never accept any questions, but they must predict their subordinates' questions while subordinates have to think whether their managers are adequate in "power-respecting culture" (Patti, 2000).
In Japan, negotiation processes between managers and subordinates proceed "circling around the roots" (Patti, 2000). Lower status employees check that their ideas are acceptable or not for everyone after they find new things, then, they write report and are sealed by various managers.
