The Internet as a research
tool
By Tom
As a research tool, the Internet is very
efficient and convenient. On the Internet, there is a large number of academic articles
for learning and research. In other words, it offers a lot of search methods
and details, such as date, authors, and the possibility to read a brief
abstract. You can get a lot of current articles related to your research and
reference at once, so it saves time for the reader. In addition, the Internet
knows no borders as it has global network. This is convenient if people conduct
their research which requires the knowledge of current international publications
related to their topic. In this case, the Internet is considered being a very
good research tool.
Learning online
By Gan
The main advantage of online learning is
that it is not limited by time and space to exchange the information. That means students can study and communicate
via the Internet anytime. For example, young learners form some developing
countries want to study overseas. The solution is they can study different
subjects via the Internet. Furthermore, a lot of students who have to work in
the daytime can use the Internet to study at night, weekend or other time. When
they face some problems, they can ask their questions on the forums, and then
they discuss with each other to get inspiration and help from their peers. It
allows students to feel that they are not alone in the learning process.
Students also can watch class-videos again if they forget some study points.
Therefore, online learning is not limited by time and space, and it can help student
to study well.
The value of
social-networking sites for education
By Angela
With the popularity of the Internet, the
trend of the social-networking sites for education is becoming obvious. Although
there are a number of merits of the social-networking sites for education,
there are also some avoidable weaknesses. The social-networking sites are a
common platform, which people could use to study individually, interact online
actively, and have the group discussion, such as blogs, Facebook. Students
could benefit from blogs to develop their communication skills and practice
their cooperation capacity and raise their sense of teamwork. Moreover, the
blogs also provide a good way for the interaction between teachers and
students. On the other hand, many students may waste their time chatting which
makes it difficult to focus on studying. Moreover, there is a considerable
difference in the extent and quality of the participation of students.
Therefore, it is necessary for people to use the social-networking sites in a
reasonable way.

Nowadays, social networking service
(SNS) is vital in our lives, especially for young people. SNS is not only
just convenient but also could play a great role in education. For
instance, utilizing Facebook is one of the efficient methods for a student who
is eager to learn a foreign language, because he or she can make a lot of
overseas friends and teach their languages to each other. In other words,
social-networking sites can provide the students with the opportunity to
connect to the world. Hence, the idea that SNS has adequate value and benefits
in education is plausible.
Thank you all... very interesting...
